More than 800 employees have transferred to Southwest One, a joint venture company launched by Somerset CC, Taunton Deane BC and IBM. One hundred IBM staff are now working full-time in Taunton, with a further 100 expected to transfer next year. IBM also plans to open an IBM office in the county town in future. Southwest One will deliver services such as information technology, finance, human resources and customer contact centres for both councils.
