IFS highlights social benefits spending increase

The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) has raised concerns over the growth in welfare benefit spending, following the publication of the latest public finance figures.

The figures from the Office for National Statistics and the Treasury revealed spending on net social benefits was 8.4% higher last month than in the previous year.
