Councils should pay more attention to how they are perceived, says ex-local government minister Nick Raynsford. In The MJ this week, Mr Raynsford complained one council has ruined its reputation with him by sending a Christmas card with five basic errors. He says the card was addressed to ‘Lord Nick Raynsford, minister for local government, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, 26 Whitehall.' He pointed out that he had not been minister for 18 months, that he had never been a peer, that the ODPM ceased to exist last May, and its current address was Eland House in Victoria. He adds: ‘There could be no better illustration of the way in which what was supposed to be a contribution towards building a positive image has rebounded badly.'
