There is no evidence that immigrants to the UK are able to jump the social housing queue, according to a report published this week. Despite this, prime minister Gordon Brown has promised changes to local authority guidance to ensure locals receive priority housing treatment. Housing minister John Healey said changes would tackle the ‘myth' that immigrants receive preferential treatment.
