The latest local immigration figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) have been heavily criticised by councillors, who labelled them inaccurate – and likely to distort local government funding again.
Westminster City Council has led criticism of the ONS's indicative figures for local authorities in England and Wales, which were published on 17 November, after claiming the statisticians under-estimated the local migrant population by around 10,000 residents.
