Local government has called on energy secretary, Chris Huhne, to lower the cost and reintroduce an incentive for its participation in the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Energy Efficiency Scheme.

Last month's Spending Review revealed theTreasury would retain the £1bn-a-year generated by the scheme, rather than it being ‘recycled' back to authorities to encourage further energy-efficiency projects for the low-carbon agenda.
