The chief executives of Forest Heath DC and St Edmundsbury BC have said they will not apply for the newly-created joint chief's post.
The authorities have confirmed they expect to appoint a new joint chief by 15 February, but neither incumbent – David Burnip at Forest Heath, and Geoff Rivers at St Edmundsbury – has entered the competition for the post. A joint statement by the serving officers stated: ‘[The councils] are at a watershed and we have decided it is in the best interests of both organisations if they have an opportunity to appoint a new chief.'
