Two inquiries into Hillsborough police under way

The IPCC and the director of public prosecutions, launch inquiries into police actions following the Hillsborough disaster.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission and the director of public prosecutions, have both launched inquiries into possible crimes committed by the police following the Hillsborough Stadium disaster.

Welcoming their decisions, chair of the Association of Police Authorities, Cllr Diana Holl-Allen, paid tribute to the authors of the Independent Panel for revealing the truth over a cover-up, involving senior police officers, concerning events leading up to the death of 96 Liverpool supporters on 15 April 1989.
