Troubled Anglesey Council this week become the second authority in Wales to be placed under special education measures following a damning schools inspection report.

The northwest Wales authority – currently under the stewardship of five government-appointed commissioners – joins Blaenau Gwent in being subject to education-related measures, amid intensifying concern that the country's schools are under-performing.
