Croydon LBC has selected John Laing Integrated Services as preferred bidder to run its libraries from April 2013 onwards.
Under the plans, the London borough will retain the freehold of all library buildings, while the contractor will be responsible for maintaining services and, where possible, increasing book stocks and upgrading facilities.
