Investment and Policy Manager - Carlisle City Council

Investment and Policy Manager - Carlisle City Council

Salary : Grade L £38,422 - £42,032

Closing Date: 22 November 2013.

Carlisle has the assets and opportunities to put itself on the map as the Capital of Cumbria and the City of the Lake District; to bring its amazing history and stories to life; and to build on its successful independent and entrepreneurial nature.

This is a new role which recognises Carlisle's growth ambitions and the part it plays in the sub-region. It is our belief that growth is needed to strengthen the area's economy and provide a wide range of services and cultural facilities which are expected of a dynamic and successful City.

We aim to maximise the opportunities that significant population growth over the next two decades can offer. Carlisle will be an attractive location for existing employers and for new business to locate with a range of high quality employment sites and a skilled workforce.

This will not only occur through the creation of secure, diverse and other progressive employment opportunities, along with improved levels of skills among the workforce, but also ensuring that we have the right mix and level of housing provision to meet the demand and support growth.

The Policy and Investment Manager role brings together Planning Policy, Economic Development and Regeneration in order to ensure that we have the right framework to drive and deliver the growth agenda.

The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge of planning policy and physical regeneration. The successful candidate will combine commercial acumen with public sector experience, respecting the needs of the customer.

This post is full time and permanent and will attract a relocation allowance of circa £5000.
