The Northern Ireland Local Government Association (NILGA) and SOLACE have published a manifesto for strong, effective local government in the province. The manifesto highlights examples of best practice in Northern Ireland, such as the regeneration of Newcastle in County Down by Down DC. It also calls for councils in future to give strong civic leadership, deliver modern services and shape the places where people live and work. A decision about local government reorganisation in Northern Ireland is expected in late November.
