Only 10 days into the job Isle as Wight Council’s new chief executive, Joe Duckworth has announced a shake-up of senior management responsibilities. He presented the Aim Higher corporate plan to Tuesday’s cabinet meeting, which called for the replacement of one of the two assistant chief executive post with a director of finance, and the creation of a director of partnership, policy and performance combined with the title of deputy chief executive. Joining the island authority from ‘excellent’-rated Westminster City Council, where he was deputy chief executive, Mr Duckworth said: ‘We are working hard to transform the organisation to ensure that local people are at the heart of everything we do.’ Isle of Wight Council is currently rated as two-star and ‘improving adequately’ at CPA, having previously been categorised as ‘fair.’ ‘The council has achieved a great deal in the 12 months since this administration took control, but there is more to do,’ said Conservative council leader, Andy Sutton.
