Three directors and two managers have been suspended by Isle of Wight Council, pending the results of an internal inquiry concerning a six-year old contract award. Deputy chief executive, John Lawson; director of regeneration and development, Derek Rowell; and finance director, Paul Wilkinson, have all been suspended, together with two managers. The investigation team will look at the circumstances of the contract award, which was criticised by an external inquiry last November, and the alleged lack of action by council managers to intervene in the matter.
