Support service giants Jarvis and Compass have both released financial figures after a period of restructuring. Infrastructure specialist Jarvis announced a loss of £2.5m for the six months ending 30 September. The group's financial figures revealed £2.7m exceptional costs from the delayed disposal of the loss-making Accommodation Services, which was offset by the sale of Herefordshire Jarvis Services to Amey in September. ‘We have made considerable progress in the recovery of the group and are pleased with what has been achieved to date,' said executive chairman, Steven Norris. Catering firm Compass has announced a 5% growth in revenue for the year ending 30 September, and also reported an operating profit of £529m Chief executive, Richard Cousins, said the company, which includes subsidiary Scolarest, said: ‘Over the last 18 months, we have simplified the business to focus on our core good and support services offer by selling non-core businesses, and we have considerably reduced our risk profile by exiting high risk or volatile businesses. ‘And while there is still much to do, we have had an encouraging start to the new financial year.'
