This week, Diary attended a pre-Budget event on local authority finance, which is, of course, to be expected. What wasn't expected was a long, drawn-out analogy of council governance through the etiquette of nightclubs.
According to one of the speakers, 'Just because you take to the dancefloor, doesn't mean anyone wants to dance with you' and 'there may be some that you don't want to dance with' and 'even when you do dance, there might not always be chemistry'. This continued, in a similar vein, for some time.
