Southwest One – the joint venture between IBM, Somerset CC, Taunton Deane BC and Avon and Somerset Police –has lost a total of £16.5m.

The company's chairman, Sir James Tidmarsh, said the firm had lost the money in the year to the end of 2009, but added that he was confident the business would meet its long-term objectives to deliver vitally-needed cost savings.
