Four rural councils in Northumberland have joined forces to save local post offices. Alnwick DC, Berwick-upon-Tweed BC, Castle Morpeth BC and Tynedale BC are working with Northumberland's Citizens Advice Bureaux to conduct a major survey of the 103 rural post offices in the area to find out what services they provide, who uses them and what the impact might be if the post offices are closed. Results will be submitted to the Department of Trade and Industry.
