Lewes DC has welcomed local government secretary Ruth Kelly's decision to look at alternative sites for Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club's new stadium. Ms Kelly has written to all parties, singling out Sheepcote Valley for special consideration, and has asked for further submissions to be made to her by 15 February next year. Lewes has been in a long-running dispute with Brighton & Hove City Council over the latter's support for a stadium at Falmer.
