Mayor Ken Livingstone has put climate change at the centre of his mayoralty, he told London borough leaders last week. Speaking at the Lord Mayor's London government dinner at the Mansion House, Mr Livingstone said it was his ‘number one priority for the rest of my mayoralty'. The mayor praised Richmond LBC for imposing extra parking charges on 4x4s, and also pledged that the 38p Olympic levy on London council tax would remain at that level. Lord Mayor, Ald John Stuttard, warned it was essential there was ‘a firm line' between the GLA as strategic body and the boroughs ‘with a local job to do' and called on more resources for the capital for public services.
