Kent CC is to receive a £6m out-of-court payment to settle the dispute with designers of a new modern art gallery in Margate. The council had mounted a legal bid to recover costs from the first architects of the Turner Contemporary Gallery. The design, by Snohetta Spence, was ditched in 2006 after disputes over engineering advice, cost advice, project management and intended construction. Other parties included Davis Langdon LLP and Ramboll UK Limited. In a statement, Kent CC said: ‘The parties are pleased to say that they have reached a settlement of the dispute without any admissions as to liability, and that the court proceedings have been brought to an end by way of a payment to Kent CC of £6m, inclusive of interest and costs.'
