Kent snub as lorries charge agreed

Ministers have confirmed they will proceed with plans to charge lorries for using the road network.

Ministers have confirmed they will proceed with plans to charge lorries for using the road network, but they will snub a request by Kent CC for the money generated to be reinvested into local highways maintenance programmes.

‘Kent currently suffers all the disadvantages of being the UK's main transport corridor to Europe but enjoys none of the benefits,' council leader, Paul Carter said.
