The pioneering local authority television service, Kent TV, is poised for a major expansion and relaunch. The broadband television service, started in September last year, is to increase the range of channels it offers and has moved to a new headquarters at Maidstone Studios. Ten Alps, the factual media company which won the contract to operate the channel on behalf of Kent CC, will continue running it. The Internet service has attracted more than 212,000 visitors viewing more than one million pages since its launch. It now boasts more than 700 films on a range of topics, from tourism to business news and community events. John McGhie, editor of Kent TV, told The MJ: ‘After six months on air, we're now getting a much better idea of what people want from Kent TV, and we're responding to that with the new channels, better navigation and making it easier for people to submit their own films.'
