More changes at the top have been confirmed this week in local government. Rotherham MBC has appointed a new chief executive, Martin Kimber, who will take over from retiring Mike Cuff. Mr Kimber was previously director of environmental services at Wigan MBC for seven years and, before that, spent six years as assistant director of planning and transportation at Barnsley MBC. He said: ‘I am delighted with the opportunity to join Rotherham. Yorkshire people are the most friendly I have ever met.' Meanwhile, the chief executive of Maldon DC, Steve Watson, has resigned after four years in the job. David Smith, chief executive of Epsom and Ewell BC, will retire after 23 years of service, following a stroke he suffered last year. Tracie Evans has quit her roles as interim joint finance director at Kingston-upon-Thames RLBC and Kingston PCT, after two years in the post. Ms Evans joined the council in 2007 from Buckinghamshire CC, where she had been head of finance since 2004. She said: ‘I was appointed to help the council overcome some of the challenges it had, and to help visualise a new Kingston for the future. My work with the NHS Kingston has helped bring the two organisations much closer together.'
