Knives out for Lewisham mayor A petition has been launched to oust the elected mayor of Lewisham, Steve Bullock, following his decision to close a borough swimming pool. Opposition councillors have started the petition which Mayor Bullock said was a ‘very odd way’ to go about pursuing objections to one specific decision. He added that no debate over the positive and negative aspects of the mayoral system had been attempted. To force a referendum, 5% of the electorate must sign the petition.
