The incoming Labour administration at Birmingham City Council has called for an independent ‘health check' on its Service Birmingham joint venture with Capita.

Labour group deputy leader, Cllr Ian Ward, said members wanted to see if the local authority was getting ‘value for money' from the contract, and whether planned service improvements were actually taking place.
