The former managing director of Cheltenham BC, is to appeal against a High Court judgement to pay a £280,000 legal bill. Christine Laird, confirmed she will seek to overturn part of the judgement by Mr Justice Hamblen in the case brought against her by the council. She was ordered to pay 35% of her costs as part of her counter-claim was ruled to be unfounded. Her husband Hugh, said: ‘She was found innocent and to penalise her with what is effectively this fine is not right. It is clearly unfair that my wife wins the case and yet is left broke and feeling like a victim.' If successful, the cost to the council will be £1.2m.
