Advising local authorities has become a key part in the success of the UK's top-10 law firms according to new figures. Analysis of the British legal market revealed it is more profitable, with billing up 350% on 15 years ago. The top 100 legal firms collected more than £12bn in fees over the last year. Top law firm Clifford Chance, posted a profit of £374m this year from revenue totalling nearly £1.2bn – a rise of 16%, according to Legal Business. Freshfields, which has made public procurement issues one of its specialist areas, brought in business totalling £986m and was ranked third.
