The Cabinet Office has denied planning to introduce powerful laws restricting public sector strikes, but confirmed it had made contingency plans to cope with mass walk-outs this summer.

A spokeswoman for the department told The MJ, ministers had ‘no current plans for tougher laws to restrict strike action', and added ‘such measures would only be taken as a last resort'.
