Lawyers draw up proposals to ditch outdated legislation

The Law Commission for England and Wales and the Scottish Law Commission announce plans to remove more than 800 old laws.

The Law Commission for England and Wales and the Scottish Law Commission have announced plans to sweep away more than 800 old laws and regulations.

A joint report details 817 whole Acts of Parliament that the commissions believe are out of date and due for repeal, together with the suggested partial repeal of a further 50 Acts.
