London Councils has hit out at moves to allow the mayor of London powers to negotiate local Section 106 agreements with developers in the capital.
The group believes the capital's 33 local councils will lose out if new mayoral planning powers outlined the GLA Act 2007 are allowed to come into operation in April.
Executive member for planning, Michael Snyder, said: ‘The boroughs have a track record of negotiating highly-beneficial deals with developers. The mayor's planning powers are supposed to be confined purely to strategic matters. Let the boroughs continue to look after their communities.'
