London Councils has called on the Government to introduce tax relief for private landlords, who are renting to people on benefits, in a bid to head off the growing homelessness crisis.
The organisation's executive member for housing and Lewisham LBC mayor, Sir Steve Bullock, said London boroughs are expecting the number of privately rented homes to decrease and homelessness numbers to increase. 'These two factors are driving an urgent need to find alternatives to the current model,' said Sir Steve.
