Tory council leader, David Parsons, has called on prime minister, David Cameron, to make councils responsible for unemployment issues.
Cllr Parsons, leader of Leicestershire CC, which is one of the 16 community-based budget pilots, raised the issue in a meeting with the PM earlier this week. He told Mr Cameron: ‘I think it's time to take this idea to the next stage by making councils responsible for worklessness overall, rather than central government.'
