Enfield LBC leader, Cllr Michael Rye, has criticised a judge for overturning an earlier decision to allow a judicial review of plans to close 24-hour accident and maternity services at the borough's Chase Farm Hospital. ‘It is deeply disappointing and sets a dangerous precedent for future decisions on local health services. The judgement suggests that the NHS can close vital local services without consulting local people, if they consider them to be no longer viable. Most people will be horrified by this judgement and what this means for local democracy.'
