The leader of Kensington & Chelsea LBC has offered to take home secretary, Jacqui Smith, out for a kebab.

Writing in The MJ this week, Cllr Merrick Cockell, says: ‘Perhaps the home secretary might like to join me on for a late night walk around the streets of Kensington & Chelsea to see at first hand what can be achieved when the police and local authority work closely?'

Cllr Cockell, who also chairs London Councils, was responding to Ms Smith's comments on her fear of crime in the capital.
