Town hall leaders, chief executives and directors gathered in Rotherham last week, in a quest for solutions to the economic downturn. Local government minister, John Healey, and minister for Yorkshire and Humber, Rosie Winterton, met with more than 90 representatives from local government in Yorkshire and Humber to share learning and good practice. Local Government Yorkshire and Humber chairman, Cllr Arthur Barker, said: ‘Across the region, we are committed to working together to ensure that we are best prepared to deal with the problems and issues resulting from the current economic downturn.' The main focus of the meeting in Magna was to pick up on successful local schemes to alleviate the difficulties resulting from the financial meltdown.
