Legal merger could save councils £4.4m

The neighbouring London boroughs of Harrow and Barnet are to merge legal services.

The neighbouring London boroughs of Harrow and Barnet are to merge legal services, in a move which is expected to save £4.4m over the next five years.

Cabinet members at both councils have given the go ahead for the scheme, which will come into operation in July, and is designed to give both authorities a greater range of in-house legal expertise and save on the hire of specialist external lawyers.
