A major clean-up operation and contingency plans are under way at Leicester City Council after a fire swept through part of its headquarters. Up to 40 firefighters tackled the blaze and no one was injured. The cause of the blaze is not yet known but is under investigation. Council chief executive Sheila Lock said: ‘We do have some fire damage to contend with, but we have good business continuity plans in place to ensure that work can continue as usual. None of our frontline services will be affected.'
