Rory Palmer, deputy city mayor for Leicester City Council is to chair a new commission set up to tackle child poverty in the city.

Just above 35% of children and young people in Leicester currently live in poverty, and the commission, which will produce an interim report within two years, will identify new approaches to improving the life chances of children and families, and breaking cycles of deprivation through public services and cross-sector partnerships.
