Leicestershire County Council - Director, Children and Family Services

Leicestershire County Council - Director, Children and Family Services

As one of the country's highest performing local authorities, Leicestershire County Council is determined to offer its communities high quality, responsive and efficient services.

Our Children and Family Services have a strong track record of success. 70% of our schools are rated as ‘good' or ‘outstanding', our KS3 results are in the top 5% nationally, and our children's social care teams deliver good services, with outcomes for Looked after Children particularly praised in our 2012 Ofsted report.

That is not to say that we are content. Clearly, the budget situation remains hugely challenging across local government, and in addition the focus on children's safeguarding is – quite rightly – unrelenting.

We are also very aware that good relationships with Heads and Schools in the County will remain essential. Since we are in the process of considering the most appropriate integrated model for the delivery of services to children and families in Leicestershire, there is a real opportunity to help to shape and develop services. Reporting to the Chief Executive, our new Director of Children and Family Services will therefore have a relentless focus on quality and the skills to form excellent relationships with our many partners and
stakeholders.

Strong corporate leadership and budget management abilities are a prerequisite. Perhaps most importantly, we are looking for candidates with the passion and determination to ensure that all of the children and young people of Leicestershire get the best
possible start in life.
