Leicestershire CC has decided to end compulsory retirement at the age of 65 years. The council took the decision after new laws were introduced last year, which make it illegal to discriminate on the grounds of age when recruiting staff. ‘This presents an opportunity to acknowledge and retain the expertise of our older workers and at the same time, tap into their skills to help develop younger employees,' said deputy council leader, Nick Rushton. ‘It's a win-win situation.'
