Councils should grasp the agenda for local economic partnerships (LEP) and run with it, according to Treasury official, Helen Bailey.

Councils should grasp the agenda for local economic partnerships (LEP) and run with it, according to Treasury official, Helen Bailey.

Speaking at theLocal Government Association's conference on the Comprehensive Spending Review last week, the director of public services for the Treasury told delegates: ‘If you don't rise to the challenge of making LEPs work… then the Government will start to think twice about being top-down… so get in there.'
