Lewisham pledges review of charities' business rates

Lewisham LBC agrees to review how local charities qualify for business rate relief.

Lewisham LBC has agreed to review how local charities qualify for business rate relief after the head of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) wrote to the borough's chief executive, Barry Quirk.

NCVO chief executive, Stuart Etherington, approached Mr Quirk with concerns about the amount of discretionary rate relief given to the local branch of Shopmobility, which provides mobility vehicles to disabled or partially-disabled customers.
