The Local Government Association has challenged new housing minister, Caroline Flint, after she warned that unemployed council tenants could lose their homes if they failed to seek work. LGA leader, Sir Simon Milton, called for a local solution led by councils: ‘The best way of getting people into work is through joining up services and removing the barriers which prevent people securing employment. ‘This means ensuring housing, health, childcare and other services all play a part in helping people into work.'
