LGIU boss to contest parliamentary seat

Andy Sawford, chief executive of the LGIU think-tank, has said he is ready to battle for the parliamentary seat.

Andy Sawford, chief executive of the Local Government Information Unit (LGIU) think-tank, has said he is ready to battle for the parliamentary seat due to be vacated by Conservative MP Louise Mensch.

Mrs Mensch has announced she will stand down as MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire, after just two years, in order to move with her family to the United States. She is married to Peter Mensch, an American rock music manager, who already lives in New York.
