The LGIU is calling on councils to sign up to a manifesto which supports the strengthening of the role of a councillor. An LGIU event tomorrow (25 January) will put forward 12 actions for councils to commit to as part of its response to the Councillors' Commission report by Dame Jane Roberts. The LGIU plans to have 100 councils signed up by March, ready for when the Government responds to the report.
