LGPS reforms bolstered by union backing

Ministers have confirmed, the Government will press ahead with a statutory consultation on draft regulations to reform the LGPS.

The Government will press ahead with a statutory consultation on draft regulations to reform the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) from 2014, after receiving the provisional backing of trade unions, ministers have confirmed.

A parliamentary statement, issued by local government minister Brandon Lewis on 5 November, outlines the Government's commitment to having new scheme regulations in place by the time of the next LGPS revaluation in 2013.
