Last month the Government announced a new consultation on the future of local government in Greater Essex, as well as a number of other areas on the priority programme. 

Southend-on-Sea City Council, as well as nine other local authorities in Essex - and a significant number of MPs in the region - strongly support a five-unitary model. Why?
