Local Government Association vice chair, Richard Kemp, has been made a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
Cllr Kemp, who is chair of the LGA's Liberal Democrat group, will step down from the LGA this summer. He has been one of the fiercest critics of the DCLG since communities secretary, Eric Pickles, took up his post last year.
