Lib Dems lose two in five seats

Liberal Democrat losses from last week’s elections resulted in the party losing almost two in five seats and control of nine councils.

Liberal Democrat losses from last week's elections resulted in the party losing almost two in five seats and control of nine councils.

After counting was completed in the 279 councils where seats were contested, the extent of losses – which were particularly heavy in northern towns – reveal the Liberal Democrats lost 695 seats and nine councils, including Nottingham and Sheffield.
